What is Paradex?
Paradex is a decentralized exchange for perpetual futures built on its own appchain using Starknet technology. It offers an order-book trading experience, aiming to combine the responsiveness traders expect with on-chain settlement. Perpetual futures are leveraged contracts with no expiry that let you go long or short, with funding payments periodically exchanged between the two sides to keep prices near spot.
What do leverage and liquidation mean?
Leverage lets your margin control a larger position, magnifying both gains and losses. If the market moves against you and margin falls below the maintenance requirement, the position is liquidated and force-closed, and you can lose the collateral behind it. Funding costs can also accumulate while a position is open.
What did our review measure?
Our verified signal for Paradex is performance: we measured a fast endpoint latency of 53 ms, and our status-page check was inconclusive. Our automated process did not confirm value locked, audits, on-chain age, or chain count. Paradex ranks near the top of this group in our review, but that reflects the limited set of signals we could measure, not a full safety assessment.
What are the risks?
- Leverage risk: liquidations can happen quickly during volatility and erase margin.
- Newer-chain risk: running on a dedicated appchain concentrates technical and infrastructure risk.
- Unverified specifics: we did not confirm audits or value locked, so verify those before trading.
Who is it for?
Paradex may suit experienced perps traders who want an order-book venue with quick responsiveness and are comfortable with newer appchain infrastructure. It is not for beginners, and the gaps in our measured data mean independent diligence on audits, liquidity, and risk parameters is especially important here.
Appchains promise tailored performance, but they also mean you are trusting a smaller, newer system for settlement and for the safe custody of your margin. Understand how funds bridge in and out, how the chain behaves if it pauses, and what recourse exists if something goes wrong. A quick front-end, which is what our latency figure captures, is not a substitute for that deeper due diligence, so weigh convenience against maturity before you size up.
