Argent lands in the middle of our ranking. Its track record is a strength, roughly eight and a half years of operation. Our probe of its public site and backend returned in about 304 ms, a reasonable if unremarkable result. The main drag on its score is transparency: we did not find a public status page for real-time incident reporting.

The layer-2 bet
Argent leaned into Ethereum layer-2 networks early, wagering that cheaper, faster transactions would make smart-contract wallets practical for everyday use rather than a costly novelty. On mainnet, the gas required to deploy and operate a contract wallet can be prohibitive; on a low-fee layer-2, features like guardians and daily limits become affordable to actually use. The trade-off is that your experience is best where Argent has invested, so users who want to roam freely across many unrelated chains may feel boxed in. For someone content to operate within its supported networks, the wallet offers a genuinely different safety model from the standard seed-phrase approach.
