USDT0 in brief

USDT0 is an omnichain form of Tether's USDT. Rather than wrapping USDT in a separate pool on each chain, it uses an omnichain token standard so the same asset can move between chains natively. In practice this makes it a bridging layer for a specific stablecoin rather than a general asset bridge. The goal is fewer wrapped variants and more unified liquidity for a single dollar token across ecosystems.

How it scores

USDT0 ranks 4th of 15 in our bridge set with a score of 7.16, one of the better results here. Our data shows about $3.3B in associated value and credits two audits in scope. We measured roughly 308 ms of endpoint latency, and the tracked deployment is around 1.5 years old. No public status page was found.

Risks to weigh

Two layers of risk stack here. First is the underlying stablecoin: USDT0 is only as sound as USDT and its reserves. Second is the cross-chain messaging layer it relies on, which introduces the same interoperability risk as any omnichain design, exploits at the messaging or configuration layer are where cross-chain value is most often lost. The audits in scope are a positive signal, but the combination of stablecoin trust and omnichain plumbing means users should understand both. Bridges and cross-chain tokens remain a leading exploit category in crypto.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: Users who already rely on USDT and want to move it across chains without repeated wrapping.
  • Poor fit: Users who avoid USDT on reserve-transparency grounds, or who want a status page and single-chain simplicity.

A useful way to frame it: you are accepting two dependencies at once, so both deserve separate diligence. On the stablecoin side, that means Tether's reserve and redemption disclosures; on the plumbing side, it means understanding that omnichain movement relies on message-passing infrastructure whose safety is configuration-dependent. The two audits in scope are encouraging, but they do not merge these into a single risk. Our figures are a point-in-time snapshot of value, reach and latency, and do not track transfer fees or per-route configuration, so verify the specific chains you intend to use before moving meaningful amounts.

$3.25B in value locked (DefiLlama). Capital is the market voting with its money — scored on a log scale, so the jump from $10M to $100M counts for more than $10B to $20B.

Live 1.5 yr (time since DefiLlama listing (a floor on true age)). Most failures happen young, so time survived is real signal.

Deployed on 1 chain (DefiLlama). Breadth is a minor tie-breaker — a focused single-chain protocol can still be excellent.

FAQ

Is USDT0 the same as USDT?+

It is an omnichain representation of USDT designed to move across chains natively. Its value depends on USDT and its reserves plus the cross-chain layer it uses.

What is the OFT standard?+

It is an omnichain fungible token standard that lets the same asset exist across multiple chains rather than being wrapped separately on each one.

What does CoinPulsePoint verify?+

We assess value in scope, audits, reach, endpoint latency and status-page availability. We do not verify Tether's reserves or track transfer fees.
