What is Beefy?
Beefy is a multichain yield optimizer built around auto-compounding vaults. Deposit an asset and the vault repeatedly harvests rewards from an underlying farm or pool and reinvests them, saving depositors the gas and effort of manual compounding. Its defining trait is breadth: our data shows Beefy live on about 40 chains, the widest reach in our Yield aggregators category, which helps it rank 3rd of 15.
How auto-compounding works
Many DeFi positions pay rewards that must be claimed and re-deposited to keep earning on earnings. Doing that manually is costly and easy to neglect, especially on chains with meaningful gas fees. A Beefy vault automates the loop: it collects rewards, swaps them as needed, and folds them back into the position on a schedule, so the compounding happens continuously across the pool of depositors. Because the work is shared, individual depositors benefit from more frequent compounding than they could economically manage alone.

Risks to understand
Beefy lists a large number of vaults, and their risk varies widely. A vault built on a blue-chip lending market is not comparable to one farming a new token on an unproven chain. Every vault carries smart-contract risk in Beefy's own code plus the underlying protocol, and vaults on smaller chains add bridge and network risk. Auto-compounding does not protect against impermanent loss in liquidity-pool vaults, or against a reward token losing value; it optimizes how gains are reinvested, not whether the underlying position is sound. Yields fluctuate and we do not publish them, and a headline rate on a small-chain vault often reflects incentive emissions that can end abruptly. We also did not find a public status page.
Who it is for
Beefy fits experienced DeFi users who want a single interface for auto-compounding across many chains and who will assess each vault on its own merits. It is less suited to newcomers who might treat all vaults as equally safe, or to users who prefer to stay on a single, well-established network.
