Ledger vs Blockstream Jade: hardware wallet scores compared
Ledger scores 9.82/10 and Blockstream Jade 8.9/10 on CoinPulse's hardware wallet ranking (#1 and #3 of 15), on data collected October 19, 2026. Both have 100% of the score measured. Ledger's lead comes from publishing a machine-readable incident archive; Jade has the cleaner hack record. The two also differ in ways the score does not weigh: Jade is a Bitcoin-and-Liquid device with a much shorter history, and neither device's security design is tested here.

What explains the 0.92-point gap
- Status transparency (+1.10 to Ledger). Ledger is the only hardware wallet maker in the ranking with a full machine-readable incident archive (10). Blockstream publishes a status page people can read, but not in a feed format the probe parses (5).
- Security record (+0.18 to Jade). Ledger's one DefiLlama entry is a November 2020 phishing incident with $271,000 lost (7, plus 2 for age = 9). Jade has none.
- Net: 1.10 − 0.18 = 0.92 — the same gap and the same mechanics as Ledger vs Trezor, since Trezor and Jade have identical marks.
Where the numbers need care
- Latency is level on marks, not surface. Ledger was timed at its website (81 ms), Jade at a Blockstream API endpoint (77 ms), each scored on its own bands.
- Track record past the threshold. Ledger has seven more years on the market (12.3 vs 5.3). Both score 10, so the difference does not enter the score; Jade's figure counts from the device's 2021 launch.
- Outage history. Ledger's status page showed "Degraded" at collection and logged 18.75 incidents per 30 days over the 80 days its feed covers (median 26 minutes to resolution). That is visible because Ledger publishes it; Blockstream's equivalent cannot be read by script. Not scored.
- Related incidents. The December 2023 attack on Ledger's Connect Kit software library (about $600,000 in user losses, per Ledger as reported by BleepingComputer) is not in Ledger's security record, which matches incidents by exact name.
What is not measured
- Asset scope. Blockstream Jade is built for Bitcoin and the Liquid sidechain (Blockstream); Ledger devices support many more assets. Not scored — match it to what you hold.
- Device security design, firmware openness, backup and passphrase options, price, specific models, companion apps and support.
Company background: Ledger profile. There is no Blockstream profile on the site yet.
Which fits which reader
- You want a maker whose outage history you can audit: Ledger.
- You want no hack on record: Blockstream Jade.
- You hold only Bitcoin (and possibly Liquid assets): both are candidates; Jade is purpose-built for that scope.
- You hold many asset types: Ledger's broader support is the practical starting point; check the supported list for your assets.
- You want the longer track record: Ledger (12.3 vs 5.3 years).

Where each one falls short
Blockstream Jade
Status transparency: A status page exists but publishes no feed we could parse — readable, not auditable. Part of that may be our blind spot (we read three platforms).
Which to choose
Which scores higher, Ledger or Blockstream Jade?+
Ledger, 9.82 to 8.9, on October 19, 2026 data. The lead is status-page transparency; Jade leads on hack record.
Is the Ledger wallet safe?+
Ledger has a 12.3-year track record, a public incident archive and one recorded phishing incident from 2020. That is evidence about the maker's record, not a test of the device.
