What Is Nansen? Crypto Wallet Labels, Smart Money, Pricing and Trading

Nansen is a crypto analytics company that attaches names and categories, known as labels, to blockchain addresses. Using those labels, it shows what funds, exchanges, whales and consistently profitable "Smart Money" wallets are buying and selling 1.

The platform launched in 2020 and is used through a web app, a mobile app, an AI agent and an API 123. As of October 2026, Nansen describes itself as moving "from analytics platform to trading company", with in-app spot and perpetuals trading routed to third-party protocols 14.

It is unrelated to the polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen.

What Nansen does

Nansen turns raw blockchain transactions into readable activity, then lets you act on it. The work splits into four areas 23:

  • Discover. Smart Money leaderboards, net flows of labeled wallets into and out of tokens, and token screeners.
  • Research. The wallet "profiler" (balances, profit and loss, counterparties, related wallets) and "Token God Mode" (holders, flows, DEX trades for a token).
  • Track. Watchlists, portfolios and alerts when a watched wallet moves.
  • Act. Spot swaps and perpetuals from the same screen, and an AI assistant that answers on-chain questions and can prepare trades.

The about page describes these as one workflow "from discovery to execution" 1. For simpler tools that only total your own holdings, see crypto portfolio tracker.

How wallet labels and Smart Money work

A label is Nansen's attribution of an address: for example an exchange hot wallet, a fund, a market maker, or a wallet with a strong trading record. Nansen says it holds more than 500 million labeled addresses 13.

"Smart Money" is Nansen's own grouping of wallets it judges to be skilled or well-informed traders 2. Signals built on it, such as "Smart Money net inflow", are therefore only as good as the attribution behind them.

Labels are Nansen's analysis, not verified identities. Nansen's terms also say AI features can produce outputs that are "inaccurate" or "lack context" 4. Treat both as research inputs, not instructions.

Plans and pricing

As of October 2026, Nansen offers two plans, Free and Pro 5. There is no enterprise tier.

Free Pro
Price $0 $69/month, or $49/month billed annually 6
Data Limited All chains; full PnL and labels including Smart Money 6
Alerts, portfolios, custom labels Limited Unlimited, subject to fair use 6
AI agent — 2,000 agent credits per week (Academy) 6
API credits 100 one-time trial credits, then a daily top-up to 10 7 Included allowance with a monthly top-up 7

API credits. Extra credits cost $10 per 10,000, with bulk discounts above 5 million 5. Each endpoint has a fixed price 7:

  • Most profiler and token calls cost 1 credit.
  • Smart Money endpoints cost 5.
  • Full address labels cost 100, and premium labels cost 500.
  • An "expert" AI-agent query costs 750.
  • Credits are charged only on successful responses, and purchased credits expire after one year 7.

Plan changes and refunds. Remaining time on a plan does not roll over when you switch 5. The terms say there are no refunds on account termination unless stated otherwise 4.

Nansen does not publish trading-fee rates on the pages reviewed. The homepage says loyalty "Points" tiers "unlock lower fees" 2, so check the fee shown before confirming a trade.

Trading, staking and custody

Nansen's terms describe every service as non-custodial: Nansen does not hold your assets 4.

  • Spot trading. Swaps run on Solana and Base. Nansen prepares the transaction and you sign it 3.
  • Perpetuals. Perps run on Hyperliquid 3. The terms stress that Nansen does not set margin, funding or liquidation rules; the third-party protocol does. Leveraged losses can exceed the collateral committed 4.
  • Prediction markets. An "Outcomes" feature gives access to third-party prediction markets 4.
  • Staking. app.nansen.ai/stake connects you to Nansen-run validators without handing over custody 4.

Where features are restricted 4:

Scope Restricted in
All services Singapore, Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk
Perpetuals Additionally the United States and the United Kingdom
Outcomes Additionally the US, UK, Australia and several other countries

Data, privacy and account security

A Nansen account is tied to an email or a connected wallet. Connecting a wallet links its address and on-chain history to your account under Nansen's privacy policy 4.

The main risks:

  • Account takeover and phishing. After the 2023 vendor breach (below), Nansen urged users to reset passwords and watch for phishing 10. See crypto phishing.
  • Signing risk. Trades are signed from your wallet, so review each transaction before signing.
  • Data error. Labels and AI answers can be wrong 4.

Company background

Nansen launched its analytics platform in 2020, focused first on Ethereum 18. In December 2021 it raised $75 million in a round led by Accel, with a16z, Tiger Global, GIC and SCB 10X. Investors put the valuation at about $750 million 89. The company was Singapore-based at the time 8. Its current terms name the "Nansen group" as operator and select the law of Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, while Singapore itself is a restricted jurisdiction 4.
