Since June 22, 2026, the marketplace has been operated by Gahinga Inc. 1. The RARI token was not part of the sale and is governed separately 7.

Who owns Rarible now

Rarible changed hands in mid-2026. The sale of the brand and "core platform assets" was announced on Rarible's X account around May 29, 2026. Press reports name the buyer as Impossible and describe it as Impossible's first acquisition 14. One report says the deal covered the marketplace and the RaribleX software-as-a-service product 15. Terms were not disclosed.

Rarible's own documents use two names. The FAQ says "IMPOSSIBLE acquired the Rarible brand" 7. The Terms of Service, updated June 22, 2026, name Gahinga Inc. as the acquirer. They say it has operated the service since that date and that "Rarible" in the Terms now means Gahinga Inc. 1. The Terms are governed by Panamanian law. Disputes go to conciliation and then arbitration in Panama City 2.

The older site still runs at og.rarible.com, which the homepage says covers "all our partner chains" 13.

Rarible and the RARI token

RARI is no longer tied to the company that runs rarible.com. The FAQ states that the RARI Foundation ecosystem, including the RARI token, "remains independently managed and governed by the relevant RARI Foundation entities" 7. The sale did not include the token 1415. Holding RARI gives no ownership in the marketplace operator. Older wording in the Terms still mentions RARI as "Rarible's native governance token" 1. Readers should rely on the newer FAQ statement.

How buying and selling works

Rarible is a decentralized app (DApp). You sign in by connecting a crypto wallet. No email account is needed to browse, buy or sell 6. Rarible does not operate your wallet and cannot retrieve anything from it 3.

Buying

  1. Find an item and connect your wallet.
  2. Pay in crypto (for example USDC) from the wallet. Or pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through MoonPay, which charges its own processing fee 9.
  3. Fixed-price items transfer immediately once the transaction confirms 6.

Selling

  • Connect the wallet holding the item, open it and set a price. Listing works on Solana and Rarible's supported EVM chains 12.
  • You can also accept an active collection offer to sell instantly 12.
  • Cancelling a listing is an on-chain transaction and costs gas 12.

Minting. If you create NFTs, you are a "Creator" under the Terms. You must accept separate Creator Terms, which may require your legal name and mailing address 5.

See our guide on how to buy an NFT for the general process.

Fees

Rarible charges the seller a marketplace fee of 2% on Ethereum, Base and Polygon, and 1.5% on Solana. The fee comes out of the sale price. Other chains vary, and the fee is shown when you list 10.

Cost Who pays Amount
Rarible marketplace fee Seller 2% (Ethereum, Base, Polygon); 1.5% (Solana) 10
Creator royalty Paid out of the sale Set by each collection 10
Buying a Rarible listing Buyer No extra Rarible fee 10
Buying a listing aggregated from another marketplace Buyer That marketplace's fee (Magic Eden, Tensor: 2%); plus 2% Rarible fee on EVM chains 10
MoonPay card payment Buyer Shown at checkout 9
Gas Whoever sends the transaction Varies by chain 10

Example (illustrative, using the FAQ rates): an NFT sells for 1 ETH on Ethereum with a 5% royalty. The seller receives about 0.93 ETH: 1 ETH minus 0.02 ETH Rarible fee and 0.05 ETH royalty. The buyer pays 1 ETH plus gas. The Terms let Rarible change fees with or without notice, but you see the fee before you pay 4.

Physical collectibles and Gacha

The 2026 relaunch added two sections 6:

  • Collectibles: graded physical items, such as Pokémon, One Piece and sports cards, tokenized and listed on partner marketplaces. Rarible aggregates them. Items are minted and vaulted by partner Collector Crypt, with each token mapped 1:1 to a stored card 11. Shipping the physical card to you was not available at launch, and some countries will be excluded when it arrives 11. You rely on the vault operator, not only the blockchain, for the item to exist.
  • Gacha: buy a pack and receive a random collectible 6.

Eligibility and KYC

Rarible does not currently require identity verification. It reserves the right to ask for it where laws, sanctions or internal policies require 8. Users must be 18 or older. They must not be on sanctions or terrorism-finance lists or be politically exposed persons 3. Rarible says it cannot verify the service's legality in every country, so that check is left to the user 3.

Security and risks

  • Custody. Rarible is non-custodial. You keep your NFTs and funds and sign every transaction 6. If you lose your keys, Rarible cannot help 3.
  • Signature risk. The main threat on any NFT marketplace is signing a malicious approval. A setApprovalForAll signature can hand over a whole collection. Read every wallet prompt.
  • Counterfeits. Anyone can mint an NFT that copies a known collection. Check the contract address and collection page before buying.
  • Support impersonation. Rarible lists Discord and X as support channels 12, and [email protected] for compromised accounts 3. Scammers often pose as support in Discord DMs. See crypto phishing.
  • Operator change. A new company now runs the service under new Terms 1. Re-read them if you used Rarible before June 2026.
