Photon SOL: What the Solana Trading Terminal Does, Its Fees and Risks

Photon is a browser-based trading terminal for finding and quickly trading newly launched tokens, mainly memecoins on Solana. It is often called "Photon SOL" after its address, photon-sol.tinyastro.io 1. It is run by Tiny Astro Inc., whose terms are governed by the law of Ontario, Canada 4. You link a wallet, Photon creates a separate trading wallet for you, and you buy and sell with one click. Photon charges 1% of every buy and sell 23. It is a tool, not an exchange. Trades execute on Solana decentralized exchanges and launchpads.

Who runs Photon

The Terms of Use say Photon's website, apps and Telegram bots are created and distributed by Tiny Astro Inc. 4. The terms were last revised December 8, 2024. They require users to be at least 18, and they send disputes to individual arbitration, with Ontario courts for anything outside it 4. Photon does not publish founder names, funding or user figures on its site or docs, and we found no primary source for them. The official channels linked from the site are the X account @tradewithPhoton and the Telegram group "photonlounge" 1.

How Photon works

  1. Connect and generate. You connect a Solana wallet such as Phantom. On first login, Photon offers to generate a trading wallet and shows its private key only once 2.
  2. Fund. You move SOL from your connected wallet to the trading wallet. You can split it across up to five trading wallets or top up through MoonPay 27.
  3. Find tokens. Several screens surface tokens as they launch or gain activity:
    • a live pairs feed and trending pages;
    • "Memescope," a filtered feed of Pump.fun and Moonshot launches. It can screen on top-10 holder share, developer holdings, progress toward "bonding" (the point where a token migrates to a regular DEX pool), liquidity and volume 7.
  4. Trade. Quick Buy and Quick Sell execute immediately from the trading wallet. Limit and DCA orders are also available 7.
  5. Withdraw. You send SOL from the trading wallet to any address you enter 2.

Execution settings. Photon's speed comes from transaction priority, not from better prices. Its "Smart-MEV" settings decide where a trade is routed 5:

  • In Fast mode, trades are sent to Jito if the tip ("bribe") is under 0.001 SOL. Larger tips go to the routing partner bloXroute.
  • In Secure mode, the threshold is 0.002 SOL.
  • Auto Speed sets priority fees and tips from recent successful transactions.

Higher tips raise your cost per trade. Photon's FAQ also warns that clicking a quick-sell again while the first one is still processing can execute both orders 5.

Photon fees

Photon charges 1% of the SOL value of every buy and every sell 3:

  • Buy example (from Photon's docs): spending 5 SOL costs a 0.05 SOL fee, and 4.95 SOL goes into the token.
  • Sell example: selling tokens worth 1 SOL costs 0.01 SOL.
  • Round trip: buying and selling the same position costs about 2% in Photon fees.

On top of the Photon fee, you pay:

  • Solana network fees;
  • any priority fee or tip you set;
  • price impact and slippage, which on thinly traded memecoins can exceed the Photon fee.

Photon's Ethereum documentation also states a 1% fee and says transfers between your own wallets are not charged 3.

Wallets, keys and custody

Photon's trading wallets are not the wallet you connected. They are new wallets that Photon generates, and you see the private key once 2.

Our explanation of what this means: Photon executes one-click trades without asking your main wallet to sign each transaction. In practice, the platform can sign for those trading wallets. Treat them as hot wallets holding only what you are actively trading, not as long-term storage.

The terms say you alone are responsible for your keys, and the company cannot restore access to a lost wallet 4. Save the trading-wallet key when it is shown. If you lose it and Photon becomes unavailable, funds left in that wallet may be hard to recover.

Risks to know

  • The tokens themselves. Memecoins launched minutes earlier are prone to rug pulls, concentrated holders and sudden liquidity loss. Photon's holder and developer filters are signals, not guarantees 7.
  • Impersonation. Fake Photon sites have used wallet drainers, which empty a wallet once you connect it. One such site, reported in December 2025, used the domain speedtrade[.]icu 6. Reach Photon only through a bookmarked address, and never enter a seed phrase on a trading site. See crypto phishing.
  • Duplicate or failed trades. Fast resubmission can execute an order twice if you click again 5. Underpriced priority settings can make trades fail during congestion.
  • Geography. Use is prohibited from sanctioned countries, including Russia, Iran and North Korea 4. Check your local rules on trading tools.
