Who runs Cryptohopper

Cryptohopper B.V., a Dutch private limited company, provides the service. Its terms list a Chamber of Commerce registration (70270481) and a registered address in Edam. They are governed by Dutch law, with disputes going to the court in Amsterdam 1. The company says it was founded in 2017 by two Dutch brothers: Ruud Feltkamp, a day trader, and Pim Feltkamp, an engineer 2. Complaints go to [email protected] and are "usually processed within 7 working days," according to the terms 1.

Cryptohopper sells software, not investment management. Its own disclaimer says it is not regulated. Under the terms, you alone control and configure the bot's settings 13.

How Cryptohopper works

A "hopper" is a bot tied to one exchange account. Setting one up follows a predictable path:

  1. Create API keys on your exchange and add them to the hopper. Cryptohopper's own guidance says bot keys should allow trading and "never" withdrawals 7.
  2. Choose what drives the trades. Options include your own strategy built in the Strategy Designer from technical indicators; a template, strategy or third-party signal from the Marketplace; Copy Bot or social trading that mirrors another trader's setup; or AI strategies on the top plan 35.
  3. Test first. Paper trading runs the bot with simulated funds, and backtesting replays a strategy over past prices 3. Cryptohopper says marketplace results don't indicate future results 5.
  4. Run it. The bot runs in the cloud around the clock, checks its strategy at the interval your plan allows (every 10, 5 or 2 minutes), and manages open positions with tools such as trailing stops and DCA (buying more as the price falls) 35.

Other tools include a Trading Terminal for manual trading across connected exchanges, exchange arbitrage and market-making bots (top plan), trading tournaments, and Cryptohopper MCP, which links AI assistants to live market data 35. Supported exchanges

As of October 23, 2026, Cryptohopper lists 11 officially supported exchanges 4:

Whether you can use a given exchange depends on that exchange's own rules for your country. US residents, for example, would use Binance.US rather than Binance.

Pricing (as of October 23, 2026)

Cryptohopper charges a flat subscription. Prices exclude VAT, and the company can change them at any time 13.

Plan Monthly Billed yearly (per month) Coins Open positions per exchange Strategy check
Explorer $29 $24.16 Up to 15 80 Every 10 min
Adventurer $69 $57.50 Up to 50 200 Every 5 min
Hero $129 $107.50 Up to 75 500 Every 2 min

All plans include trading signals, paper trading, backtesting and the Strategy Designer. Adventurer adds extra DCA features. Hero adds AI strategies, the AI designer, market making and arbitrage 3. The 3-day trial covers the Explorer plan 3. The subscription doesn't include exchange trading fees or spreads, and marketplace strategies or signals may cost extra. You pay exchange fees to the exchange.

Custody, API keys and risks

Cryptohopper doesn't hold customer deposits. "Your exchange is where your funds are located," the company says 5. The bot can only do what your API key allows, which is why the key's permissions matter most:

  • Leaked keys. A trade-only key can't withdraw funds, but an attacker who steals it could still place loss-making trades. This happened to users of another bot platform, 3Commas, in December 2022 8. No security incident involving Cryptohopper turned up in the sources reviewed. The company runs a public bug-bounty program for its website, API and apps 6.
  • Strategy risk. Bots follow rules. They can't foresee market moves. Backtests, paper results and marketplace performance figures are not forecasts 5.
  • Third-party signals and copied strategies. Marketplace sellers are outside parties. Check what a signal does before you let it trade.
  • No regulatory protection. Cryptohopper isn't regulated 3, so investor-compensation schemes don't apply to losses from using the bot.

Practical steps: create a separate trade-only key for the bot, turn withdrawals off, add an IP allowlist if your exchange supports one, and delete keys for hoppers you stop using 7.

Incident record

No security incident found in the sources checked as of October 23, 2026. That is a dated observation, not a promise that none has happened.

Hacks in DefiLlama’s public database are also scored as the security record on the Cryptohopper rating page.
