Gunbot: What the Self-Hosted Crypto Trading Bot Does, Pricing and Exchanges
Gunbot is crypto trading-bot software that you install and run on your own computer or server, not on the vendor's cloud. It trades on centralized exchanges such as Binance, Kraken and Bybit through API keys you create. It can also trade on some on-chain order-book venues, including Hyperliquid and dYdX, using your own wallet 278. Gunbot is published by Gunthar de Niro S.L.R. 1. As of October 2026, it is sold as a single "Gunbot Unlimited" subscription. Exchange fees and any server you rent cost extra 34.

Who makes Gunbot
According to its About page, Gunbot is "a product of Gunthar de Niro S.L.R." 1. The site doesn't publish a registered address, company number, country or founder biography. A reader who wants that information would need to ask the company directly. Gunbot describes its offering as software and documentation, not investment advice, and says it does not guarantee trading returns 1. Support runs through an email contact page, the documentation and a community forum 10.
How Gunbot works
Most cloud bot services run your strategy on their own servers. Gunbot splits the work between two parts:
- The trading engine. The bot itself is a program you download and run locally or on a server you control. It places the orders 26.
- The workspace. This is where you configure, monitor and backtest. You can open the hosted version at live.gunbot.com or self-host the workspace that ships with the download, which normally runs on localhost. Even in hosted mode, "your remote Gunbot instance still performs the actual trading," the company says 6.
The official setup sequence is: download Gunbot, set a local password, connect Gunbot Live, register the license, then connect an exchange 10.
For centralized exchanges, you create an API key on the exchange. Gunbot registers the public part of the key to your license once. You enter the secret only on the machine running the bot, and Gunbot says secrets are stored encrypted there 25. One license can register any number of keys and run several bot instances 35.
For strategies, the plan includes spot, futures, grid, DCA, trend-following and custom workflows, along with backtesting on historical data, arbitrage tools and risk controls such as stop limits and DCA safeguards 3. Strategies written by community developers are sold separately, usually as one-time purchases that work while your license is active 3. Supported exchanges and DeFi venues
As of October 23, 2026, Gunbot's supported-exchanges table lists 23 entries 7:
| Market type | Exchanges |
|---|---|
| Spot and futures | Bybit, Bitget, OKX |
| Futures only | Binance Futures, Kraken Futures, BitMEX (plus testnet), BYDFi, dYdX v3 and v4 |
| Spot only | Binance / Binance US, Kraken, Coinbase Advanced, KuCoin, Crypto.com, Gate.io, MEXC, Bitfinex, BingX, HTX (listed as Huobi), HitBTC, CEX, Poloniex |
Separately, Gunbot's DeFi page names Hyperliquid, PancakeSwap, dYdX and Aster for self-hosted execution with your own wallet, with Binance available for hedging 8. The homepage logo strip shows a slightly different set of names, so check the current table before you buy if one venue matters to you. Each exchange's own country rules still apply. US residents, for example, use Binance US rather than Binance.
Pricing and extra costs (as of October 23, 2026)

| Billing | Price | Payment | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 29 per month (€ on the plans page; $ in the FAQ) | PayPal | Automatic; cancel in PayPal |
| 6 months | $174 | Crypto | Doesn't renew automatically |

Source: Gunbot plans page and FAQ 34. For prepaid terms, Gunbot sends a reminder five days before expiry 3.
Gunbot doesn't charge per-trade or per-pair software fees 4. Costs that sit outside the license:
- trading fees on the exchange or DeFi venue;
- an optional VPS or server if you don't want to run the bot on your own computer;
- any community strategies you buy 34.
The official site shows no free trial and no published refund policy.
Custody, keys and practical risks
Gunbot doesn't hold customer funds. Assets stay on your exchange account, or in your wallet when you trade DeFi venues 28. Running the bot yourself moves some risk onto you:
- Your machine holds the secrets. API secrets and wallet keys sit on the computer or server running Gunbot 25. If that machine is compromised, so are they. Gunbot advises reviewing key scopes, withdrawal permissions, IP allowlists and key rotation 2. Give bot keys trade permission only.
- Leaked keys can still cause losses. A trade-only key can't withdraw funds, but whoever holds it can place bad trades. Users of a different bot service, 3Commas, experienced exactly this in 2022 11. One search turned up no security incident involving Gunbot.
- Impersonation scams. Gunbot says its team never starts private messages and never asks for payment to "validate" a license or change a key 9. See CoinPulse's guide on how to avoid crypto scams.
- Strategy risk. Backtests and community strategies are not forecasts. Leverage on futures venues can lead to liquidation.
- Uptime is your job. If your computer sleeps or your server goes down, the bot stops managing positions.
Incident record
No security incident found in the sources checked as of October 23, 2026. That is a dated observation, not a promise that none has happened.
Hacks in DefiLlama’s public database are also scored as the security record on the Gunbot rating page.
