Coinrule: What It Is, How the Trading Bot Works, Pricing and Availability
Coinrule is a no-code platform for automating trades. You build "if this, then that" rules, such as buying Bitcoin if it falls 5% in 24 hours, and Coinrule places the orders on your own exchange or brokerage account through an API connection 4. It is run by Coinrule Limited, a London company incorporated in 2018 12. Coinrule doesn't hold your money. Your funds stay at the exchange or broker you connect 4. Plans range from a free tier to $749 a month (October 2026) 3. The service isn't offered in the EU or EEA 1.

Who runs Coinrule
Coinrule Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, operates the service. Companies House lists it as active, with an incorporation date of March 20, 2018 2. Its terms are governed by English law, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction 1. The About page names Gabriele Musella as CEO, Zdeněk Höfler as CTO and Oleg Giberstein as non-executive director 5.
Coinrule describes itself as "not a regulated financial institution." It says it doesn't give investment advice 4. Its terms call the product "experimental Software" and say UK users have no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for it 1. Put simply, Coinrule is a software subscription. It isn't a regulated investment service.
How Coinrule rules work
A Coinrule "rule" combines a trigger with an action:
- Connect an account. You create API keys on a supported exchange or broker and paste them into Coinrule. For on-chain trading, you connect a wallet instead. Coinrule says it uses account abstraction and session keys for this 4.
- Build or pick a strategy. You can start from a template (the company cites 350+) or combine conditions yourself: price moves, technical indicators such as RSI, MACD and moving averages, time schedules, or TradingView alerts and Pine Script signals 4. Common patterns include DCA, grid ranges, trailing stop-losses, take-profit ladders and portfolio rebalancing. See dollar-cost averaging and crypto order types.
- Test it. The Demo Exchange runs a rule with virtual funds against live market data, and the backtester replays a strategy over past data 4. Coinrule labels its own backtest examples as simulations that do not guarantee results 4.
- Go live. The rule runs 24/7 on Coinrule's servers and sends orders to your account when the conditions are met. Each plan limits how many times a rule can execute 3.
Coinrule also runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude read balances, run backtests and create or manage strategies, with read-only or read-and-write permission that you choose 4. If you grant write access, the assistant can place trades on your connected accounts. For background, see how crypto trading bots work.
What you can connect
As of October 2026, Coinrule lists these integrations 4:
- Crypto exchanges (spot and futures/perps): Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, Hyperliquid and others.
- On-chain: Base, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum. Its terms also name the Uniswap protocol as a DeFi integration 1.
- Stock and ETF brokers: Trading 212, E*Trade, Webull, Public and Alpaca.
Availability also depends on the exchange or broker. A US user can only automate on platforms that accept US customers.
Pricing (as of October 23, 2026)
Coinrule charges a flat subscription. It doesn't take a share of each trade 34. Exchange trading fees, spreads and on-chain gas are separate, and you pay them to the venue.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Live rules | Exchanges | Monthly volume cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | — | 2 | 1 | $3,000 |

Cancellation and refunds. You can cancel at any time 1. The terms let you request a refund within 7 days of the subscription start. After that, refunds are at Coinrule's discretion 1. The homepage separately advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee 4. Check which applies before you pay.
Custody, API keys and risks
Coinrule doesn't hold your funds. It trades through exchange API keys that, the company says, are set up without withdrawal permission. It also says it encrypts stored keys with AES-256 4. That limits what a leaked key can do, but it doesn't remove the risk:
- Trading-only keys can still lose money. If a trading-only key is stolen, an attacker can place bad trades with it. In December 2022, leaked API keys from another bot platform, 3Commas, were used for unauthorized trades on users' exchange accounts 6. No comparable Coinrule incident turned up in the sources reviewed 7.
- Rules do exactly what you tell them to. A mis-set stop or a leveraged rule can lose money quickly in volatile markets. Backtests and demo results don't predict live results 4.
- DeFi integrations carry smart-contract and liquidity risk. Coinrule disclaims responsibility for these 1.
- No regulatory safety net. There's no FOS/FSCS coverage 1.
Practical hygiene: give the API key trade-only permission, add an IP allowlist where the exchange supports it, never enable withdrawals, and revoke keys you no longer use.
Who can use it
Coinrule bars users in the EU and EEA. It says it is not authorized as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA, blocks EU/EEA IP addresses, and treats VPN use to get around the block as a material breach 1. People in UK-, US- or EU-embargoed jurisdictions, or on UN sanctions lists, are also barred 1. Coinrule's terms don't list the US as a restricted country, and it integrates with US brokers, but exchange-side rules still apply.
Incident record
No security incident found in the sources checked as of October 23, 2026. That is a dated observation, not a promise that none has happened.
Hacks in DefiLlama’s public database are also scored as the security record on the Coinrule rating page.
