It is known in the Monero community for its privacy features and its A–D ratings of how each partner handles KYC 211. Its terms exclude US and European Economic Area residents 1.

Who runs Trocador

Trocador's Terms of Use say the app is "owned and managed by Reta Development Assets LLC" 1. The terms do not say where the company is registered, and the site does not name its team. The Monero community newsletter Revuo reported the launch of trocador.app in its October 6–13, 2022 issue. It credited a developer known as CryptoMorpheus_ and noted that the site was built without JavaScript and offered a Tor hidden service 11. The homepage still links to a Tor mirror 10.

Trocador describes itself as software that connects users with exchanges. It says it does not buy or sell crypto and does not provide an exchange service itself 1.

How a swap works

A Trocador swap has three steps 2:

  1. Choose the coin you send, the coin you want and the amount. Trocador asks its partners for quotes.
  2. Pick a quote, enter your receiving address and confirm. Check the network carefully for coins that exist on several chains.
  3. Send your coins to the deposit address generated by the partner exchange. You can follow progress on Trocador's status page, and the partner sends the new coin to your address.

Each quote shows a floating or fixed rate. A floating rate is an estimate that the exchange finalizes once your deposit confirms. A fixed rate locks the amount you receive, but the exchange can still refund the order if prices move too far. Trocador suggests floating rates for most swaps and fixed rates for paying invoices 2. Swaps usually take 5 to 60 minutes, depending on the coins and network congestion 2.

A payment mode lets you set the amount the recipient must receive, then pay in a different coin 2.

If you send the wrong amount, the result depends on the partner. Some will process it proportionally, while others halt the order. The status page says whether the chosen exchange requires an exact amount 2.

Fees

Trocador says the rate on screen already includes the partner's exchange fee and the network fees for sending your coins. You pay nothing extra for going through Trocador. Its referral commission comes out of the exchange's own fee 2. Network costs weigh more on small swaps, so some partners set minimums and fewer quotes appear for small amounts 2. Trocador does not publish its own commission rate.

One exception matters for anyone using Trocador inside another app. Websites and wallets that use Trocador's API can add their own markup of 1%, 1.65% or 3%, which gives their users worse rates than trocador.app shows directly 5.

KYC ratings and privacy

Trocador needs no account, but the partner exchange may still ask for KYC. Each partner has its own terms and can pause a swap and ask for verification, especially for funds it sees as high AML risk or linked to mixers 12. To help users choose, Trocador gives every partner a privacy rating from A to D. It bases the grade on the partner's terms and privacy policy, how the partner handles refunds when a user refuses verification, and the partner's past record on Trocador 25.

On data, the privacy policy says Trocador deletes your trade details (addresses and amount) after 14 days, or right away if you ask on the status screen. Some partners require Trocador to log your IP address, user agent and browser language. That data is kept and shared with law enforcement only when legally requested 23.

The Trocador Guarantee

If a swap fails and the partner does not deliver your coins, Trocador says it will refund you up to a set amount. The amount differs by partner and appears as a shield icon next to each quote 2. The guarantee does not cover:

  • swaps with D-rated exchanges;
  • funds blocked because of proven or unusually high AML risk, a police request or a court order;
  • funds coming from mixers.

Claims go through Telegram or email with your Trocador trade ID, and Trocador says the process can take a week or longer 2. This is a discretionary company policy, not insurance.

Who can use it

Trocador's terms prohibit use by citizens or residents of the United States, the European Economic Area, countries under UN or OFAC sanctions (the terms list them, including Russia, China, Hong Kong, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela and occupied regions of Ukraine) and countries that ban crypto. OFAC-sanctioned addresses are refused automatically 1. Its affiliate program is also closed to European users 4. Minors may not use it 1.

Other products

  • Fiat buy/sell: compares on-ramp and off-ramp partners. You complete the purchase, and any KYC, on the partner's site 2.
  • Prepaid cards: a Mastercard prepaid card provided by Obsidian, from $25 to $1,500. On October 23, 2026, it showed a $0.60 purchase fee, a $5 monthly fee after the second month and a 2.75% foreign-currency fee 7.
  • Gift cards: retailer cards for dozens of countries, with a $5,000 daily limit per email 8.
  • DeFi & Bridge: connect your own wallet to swap or bridge through DEX and bridge routes. These swaps run through smart contracts and liquidity pools 9. See CEX vs DEX.
  • AnonPay: a payment and donation gateway. It accepts more than 1,000 cryptocurrencies, per the company, and pays out in the coin you choose. It offers a BTCPay Server plugin and optional webhooks 6.

Integrations and API

Wallets and websites can embed Trocador through its API or a no-JavaScript widget 45. Cake Wallet added Trocador as a swap provider in version 4.6.0 (March 2023), and its docs list Trocador alongside ChangeNOW and Exolix 1213. Affiliates receive 50% of Trocador's commission, paid in Monero 4.

Safety notes

Trocador's homepage warns users to bookmark the site and not to trust sponsored search ads, a sign that copycat domains exist 10. Your coins sit with the partner exchange during the swap, so that partner's reliability and AML policy matter more than Trocador's own. Read the partner's rating and terms before sending large amounts. See crypto phishing.
