What Is Kyros? kySOL Liquid Restaking on Solana

Kyros is a liquid restaking protocol on Solana, built on Jito's (Re)staking framework 1. You deposit SOL or JitoSOL and receive kySOL, a token that earns three types of reward at once: Solana staking rewards, MEV tips via JitoSOL, and extra rewards for securing Node Consensus Networks (NCNs), the services that rent stake for their own security 2. kySOL stays liquid, so you can trade it or use it in DeFi 2. Kyros launched alongside Jito restaking in late October 2024 1112. Its governance token, KYROS, is issued by KyrosDAO LLC of the Marshall Islands 10.

How kySOL works

Restaking reuses staked assets to secure more than one service. On Solana, Jito built the plumbing: a Vault Program that mints and burns vault receipt tokens (VRTs), and a Restaking Program that lets NCNs and operators opt in, hands out rewards and enforces slashing rules 4. Kyros runs vaults on top of that system.

  1. You deposit SOL or JitoSOL in the Kyros app and receive kySOL 2.
  2. Your deposit is held as JitoSOL, so it keeps earning ordinary staking rewards and MEV tips 2.
  3. Kyros delegates the vault's stake to node operators, who run the NCN software. The operators listed in Kyros's docs include Kiln, Helius and Everstake. The NCN they serve is Jito's TipRouter, which distributes MEV tips 6.
  4. NCN rewards are added to the vault, so each kySOL redeems for a growing amount of JitoSOL. Kyros says its yield should be at least JitoSOL's, but restaking rewards vary and are not guaranteed 2.

kyJTO applies the same model to Jito's JTO token, earning extra rewards from securing TipRouter 5. kyKYROS is the vault token for KYROS 16. kySOL also has a deployment on Eclipse 6.

Unstaking and fees

You have two ways to exit:

  • Unstake through Kyros: your request starts at the next Solana epoch. After one full epoch, about two and a half days, you claim JitoSOL, not SOL 3. To get SOL you then unstake or swap JitoSOL separately.
  • Swap on the market: sell kySOL on an aggregator such as Jupiter for an instant exit 3. The price depends on liquidity and can be below redemption value.

Kyros's docs do not list a kySOL fee. DefiLlama's methodology records a 0.2% withdrawal fee, of which 0.1% is Kyros revenue 12. Underlying JitoSOL and NCN arrangements may carry their own fees.

Other Kyros products

  • kyGBP: a yield-bearing wrapper on tGBP, a pound-sterling token on Solana. Kyros adds yield to the vault over time, and the redemption rate cannot fall. A 3% performance fee is taken from that yield. Only whitelisted wallets can deposit or redeem, although kyGBP itself can be transferred freely 7.
  • Kyros Vaults: single-strategy USDC vaults. Each runs one trade and closes when it ends. A Kyros operator moves the USDC to trading venues and reports the value deployed. A Kyros multisig can pause vaults, change fees, replace the operator and upgrade the program. Withdrawals are fee-free for now, but may have to wait until capital returns from a trade 8.

KYROS token and governance

KYROS is a Solana token with an initial supply of 50 million. Supply is not capped: new tokens can be minted through futarchy on MetaDAO, a system that uses prediction markets to approve proposals 9. The allocation 9:

Allocation Share
Genesis airdrop (snapshot Sep 30, 2025) 25%
Future community rewards 25%
Team and contributors (3-year vesting, 6-month cliff) 15%
Public sale via BorgPad and SwissBorg Alpha 12%
Liquidity provision 12%
DAO reserves 11%

KyrosDAO LLC's own legal notice describes KYROS as speculative, with no underlying assets. It says the token may lose all of its value and that the issuer is not authorized under the EU's MiCA rules 10. SwissBorg, which ran part of the public sale, supported Kyros's development from 2024 911.

Risks

  • Layered contracts: kySOL depends on Kyros's vaults, Jito's Vault and Restaking programs, and the JitoSOL stake pool 46. A bug in any of them can affect your deposit. Kyros's docs and DefiLlama list no audit of Kyros itself 612.
  • Slashing: Jito's Restaking Program can enforce slashing rules for NCNs 4. If an operator misbehaves on a slashable NCN, the vault could lose stake.
  • Admin control: a "Main Authority" multisig is listed in the docs 6, and the vault multisig can upgrade programs 8. You rely on its signers.
  • Liquidity: with about $12.8M locked as of October 2026, down from a $51M peak in May 2025, kySOL's secondary-market depth is limited 12. Large exits may need the epoch-based unstake.
  • Permissioned products: kyGBP can only be redeemed by whitelisted wallets 7.

Questions about Kyros

What do I get back when I unstake kySOL?
JitoSOL, after about one Solana epoch 3. Selling kySOL on Jupiter is faster but may cost slippage.
Is kySOL the same as JitoSOL?
No. kySOL holds JitoSOL and adds restaking rewards from NCNs, with extra contract and slashing exposure 24.
Who runs the validators behind Kyros?
Independent node operators listed in Kyros's docs, including Kiln, Helius, Everstake, Luganodes and Staking Facilities 6.
Who governs Kyros?
KYROS holders, through futarchy markets on MetaDAO. These control the DAO fund and the right to mint new tokens. The legal issuer is KyrosDAO LLC in the Marshall Islands 910.
Was there a KYROS airdrop?
Yes. 25% of the initial supply went to a backward-looking genesis airdrop, with a snapshot on September 30, 2025 9. Use only links from kyros.fi to check claims.
