What Is Solv Protocol? SolvBTC, xSolvBTC and Bitcoin Yield Vaults

Solv Protocol is a Bitcoin yield protocol that turns BTC into tokens that can be used on other blockchains. Its core product, SolvBTC, is a token that Solv says is backed 1:1 by bitcoin held in reserve. Holders can keep SolvBTC as is, convert it to the yield-bearing xSolvBTC, or deposit it into strategy vaults that each issue their own receipt token, such as SolvBTC.BNB or SolvBTC.CORE 1356. The web interface is provided by Solv Legos Ltd. 2. SolvBTC is not native bitcoin. Getting BTC back depends on Solv's redemption process and its custody setup.

How SolvBTC works

SolvBTC is a token that represents bitcoin held in Solv's reserve. You can mint it with native BTC or with wrapped versions of bitcoin, and you redeem it by burning it 3.

Minting. There are two routes 3:

  1. From Bitcoin mainnet: you send BTC to Solv's BTC Deposit Vault. After the transaction confirms, Solv's multisignature system mints SolvBTC to your wallet on BNB Chain.
  2. From other chains: you deposit a supported wrapped BTC into a Deposit Vault, and a router contract mints the same amount of SolvBTC.

Reserves. Solv's docs split backing assets into two groups. Native BTC and BTCB are "core" reserves. WBTC, FBTC, cbBTC, BTC.b and tBTC are "innovative" reserves, with minting caps and cross-chain rate limits 4. Solv's commissioned Q4 2025 report lists cbBTC as core, so the grouping has changed over time 14. Solv sets these parameters today. The docs say SOLV holders are meant to take over this role later 4.

Proof of reserves. Since September 1, 2025, Chainlink has published a SolvBTC–BTC exchange rate backed by proof-of-reserve data 14. A proof-of-reserve feed checks that reported assets match token supply. It is not a full audit of Solv's liabilities or controls.

Moving between chains. SolvBTC moves across chains through Chainlink CCIP and LayerZero 14. Each bridge adds its own trust assumptions.

xSolvBTC, LSTs and strategy vaults

Solv offers several products built on SolvBTC. Each adds a layer of yield and a layer of risk.

  • xSolvBTC. You mint it by depositing SolvBTC, which is burned and replaced 1:1 5. The BTC behind it is staked through Babylon, a Bitcoin staking protocol. Solv moves BTC between its vault and Babylon staking addresses as deposits and withdrawals change 5. Converting xSolvBTC back to SolvBTC is instant and runs through on-chain liquidity buffers. Getting native BTC still means redeeming the SolvBTC afterward 35.
  • LSTs. SolvBTC.CORE (Core network staking), SolvBTC.ENA (Ethena), SolvBTC.JUP (Jupiter liquidity with hedging), SolvBTC.BERA (Berachain rewards) and SolvBTC.BNB (borrowing BNB against BTC on Lista DAO and PancakeSwap) 7. Earlier docs and Binance Research also list SolvBTC.BBN for Babylon 13.
  • Strategy vaults. You deposit BTC or SolvBTC and receive an ERC-20 receipt token. A fund manager runs the strategy within limits set by Solv's Vault Guardian 69. Solv's docs call these vaults "higher risk." Some, including SolvBTC.TRADING and SolvBTC.HYBRID, deploy funds to centralized exchanges and off-chain venues 6.
  • BTC+. A meta-vault that spreads deposits across several sub-vaults and rebalances them on a schedule 8.
  • Bitcoin Reserve Offerings (BRO). Structured products sold only to institutional investors that convert into SOLV at maturity 11. The March 2026 exploit hit a BRO contract (see the incident record).

Yields for xSolvBTC, the LSTs and the vaults vary with the underlying strategy and are not fixed 56.

Fees and redemption timing

Solv's docs give the fee structure but not one universal rate 3:

  • SolvBTC minting: a fee that depends on which wrapped BTC you deposit, because most wrapped assets are converted back to BTC. A Solv-commissioned report put it at roughly 0–0.3% as of late 2025 314.
  • SolvBTC redemption: no fee "currently" 3.
  • Vaults: the same report lists deposit fees of 0–0.3%, no management fee, mostly free redemption, and performance fees of up to 50% on the Trading vault, which are sometimes waived 14.
  • Network costs: you also pay gas on the chain you use, Bitcoin fees on mainnet deposits and any bridge fees.

Redemptions are batched, not instant:

Product When redemptions are processed
SolvBTC → BTC Requests from Sunday to Saturday are processed the following Monday (or next business day) 3
xSolvBTC → SolvBTC Instant, on-chain 5
SolvBTC.BNB, .AVAX, .BERA 10th, 20th and end of each month 6
SolvBTC.DLP, .JUP 5th, 15th and 25th of each month 6
SolvBTC.CORE Beginning of each month 6
SolvBTC.TRADING 30th of each month 6

If you need BTC quickly, the main alternative is selling the token on a DEX. That price can trade below 1 BTC when markets are stressed. See stablecoin depeg for how a market discount differs from a redemption right.

Custody, security and governance

  • Bitcoin custody: Solv says BTC on mainnet is held with FROST threshold signatures across a set of nodes, so no single party holds the full key 1. The Terms of Use also warn that services may rely on third-party custodians. The Trading vault uses Ceffu 214.
  • Vault controls: Solv Guard sits on top of Safe multisig wallets. For each vault it restricts which contracts and functions a fund manager may call 9. The governing multisig was held by Solv-affiliated members as of late 2025 14.
  • Audits: Solv lists audits by Salus and Quantstamp covering SolvBTC, the LSTs, the router and the Vault Guardian 10. An audit lowers the chance of bugs but does not guarantee there are none. The 2026 BRO exploit happened despite the audit program.
  • Bug bounty: $50,000 through Immunefi, per the late-2025 report 14.
  • Regulation: The Terms state that Solv is not regulated by any US federal or state agency, is not SEC-registered, and that its products carry no FDIC or SIPC protection 2. Solv says a crypto-asset white paper for it appears in the EU's ESMA register under MiCA 12. A white paper notification is a disclosure filing, not a license to provide crypto services.

SOLV token and funding

SOLV is a BEP-20 token used for governance votes, staking in Solv's Staking Abstraction Layer and fee discounts, including on SolvBTC redemption 13. Max supply was 9.66 billion, with 8.4 billion minted at genesis 13. It launched on January 17, 2025 through Binance Megadrop 14. Before launch, Solv raised about $24 million in four private token sales 13. Binance also chose Solv as the BTC yield manager for Binance Earn in April 2025 14.

Questions about Solv Protocol

Is SolvBTC the same as bitcoin?
No. SolvBTC is a token on other chains that Solv says is backed 1:1 by BTC and wrapped BTC in its reserve 34. To get native BTC back, you redeem it through Solv, and redemptions are processed weekly 3.
What is the difference between SolvBTC and xSolvBTC?
SolvBTC is the base reserve token and does not earn yield by itself. xSolvBTC is minted from SolvBTC, and the BTC behind it is staked through Babylon to earn rewards. You can switch xSolvBTC back to SolvBTC instantly 5.
How long does it take to withdraw from Solv?
SolvBTC redemptions are processed the Monday after you request them. Vault tokens follow their own schedules, from three times a month to once a month 36.
Was Solv Protocol hacked?
Yes, one contract was. In March 2026, a bug in the BitcoinReserveOffering contract cost about $2.7 million in SolvBTC. Fewer than 10 users were affected, and Solv said it would cover the losses 1617.
Can US residents use Solv?
Solv's Terms say it does not offer securities services in the United States or to US persons, and that it is not regulated by US agencies 2. Users in embargoed or sanctioned jurisdictions are excluded 2.
